Written by WellSet | January 22, 2023

There's no shortage of self-love in the WellSet studio! Our 14-day Self-Love Challenge is led by an instructor team of movement, mindfulness and holistic education practitioners who know how to teach–and practice—self-love. Read on for their personal approach to self-love, and get to know all of WellSet's instructors here. As you'll discover, self-love is about progress not perfection—even for the experts.

I practice self love in many ritualistic and practical ways to support my overall health but this first comes from a space of deep listening; awareness and allowance of my whole self to express and be. Meditative states sustain this space of listening which, to me, is the ultimate act of self-love. –Janet DeHart, Acupressure Instructor

Reminding myself that there is no such thing as perfection—and giving myself permission to make mistakes. –Eric B., Breathwork & Yoga Instructor

I practice self-love by listening to my emotions and my body. When something doesn't feel right, I try to distance myself from the situation and do some practices to ground myself, such as meditation, journaling, or self-hypnosis. When I create this space for myself, I find the wisdom that guides me and leads me to creative solutions. So much clarity comes when there is space for self-care and deep listening. –Lu Camy, Self-Hypnosis Instructor

My practice of self-love includes a tender acknowledgment of my inner child. I do this by carving out time (even 5 minutes a day can help) to get quiet and still so that I may hear the voice of my intuition and feel the loving pull of my inner guidance system. –Wendy Obstler, Yoga & Movement Instructor

As a new parent, I get up early with my daughter so we get some quality time and so that my wife gets some extra sleep. It’s reminded me of the value of mornings and so my new self-love ritual is to try not to engage with screens 'til 10am so as to preserve my mood and maintain my own frame of mind; it’s been working wonderfully. –Ramesh Tarun Narine, Breathwork, Meditation & Self-Massage Instructor

I practice self-love by spending my mornings nurturing myself—waking up slowly, enjoying nature walks or movement, journaling—and taking time to create rituals to connect and set intention for my day ahead. –Diana Paschal, Yoga Instructor

My self-love practice is boundary-setting. The most powerful way that I know how to care for myself is by saying no to the dynamics, activities, and relationships that drain my energy and leave me feeling depleted. Saying no to these things is saying yes to myself. –Aubree Henderson, Self-Worth Instructor
